Finding the right service dog begins with finding the right match. Our Service Dog Scouting & Placement program is designed to help individuals and families locate a suitable dog with the temperament, confidence, and potential required for service work.
We carefully evaluate each candidate based on key traits such as calmness, trainability, social behaviour, environmental stability, and overall health. Not every dog is naturally suited for the demands of service work, which is why proper scouting

Our Service Dog Candidate Evaluation is designed to assess your current dog’s temperament, behaviour, confidence, and overall potential for service training.
Service dogs require far more than basic obedience — they must be calm, stable, adaptable, and capable of working reliably in a variety of public environments.
12-Week Public Access Program
Through twelve (one-hour sessions) private or small group training options-you will build the skills you and your dog need to move through life with confidence. Training begins at the Cross Roads Animal Health Center and then we will progress to taking our dogs to more community-based activities such as walking trails and visiting stores.

Dogs and handlers work alongside other teams while practicing obedience, neutrality, confidence, and real-world manners in a variety of public settings. Group classes help improve focus around distractions while building strong handler communication and control.
